Work in Progress

I decided to set aside my machine embroidery for a time and pick back up on what makes my heart sing...bead embroidery. I truly love the creative process a piece goes through as it transforms from a pile of stones and beads to wearable art.

This work in progress has three odd shaped labradorite stones from "We Rock Rocks", a local stone shop in Thonotosassa, Florida. (Took me forever to get the pronunciation right.) Anyway, with the exception of bead embroidered collars, I typically don't start with a pattern or a definite outcome in mind. Instead, I allow the piece to tell me what and where it wants to go.

So here is my wearable art piece in its mid-stage. I first thought I would only work with one stone, but as you can see, that didn't last long. So I ended up adding more foundation to extend the size.

I will post again when the piece is completed.

March 19, 2019 Update!

You probably thought I forgot about updating this post.  Nope.  Actually the finishing touches went through several variations.  From making a rope neck section that I just didn't like.  So off it went along with half a day of picking beads off of threads. Ugh.

I finally ended up with a simple three strand necklace section, for which I am quite pleased.  And to top it off.... a hand beaded toggle and clasp. Cl
